At the beginning of the Fall 2011 semester, we met with all of the new faculty hires in the College of Arts and Sciences. This series of podcasts introduces them and their research interests. Susan Odom is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry. Odom, an organic and materials chemist, studies lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries to try to make them safer and increase their longevity. In her lab at UK, she synthesizes organic molecules and polymers and incorporates them into Li-ion batteries to see if they improve the batteries' performance.
At the beginning of the Fall 2011 semester, we met with all of the new faculty hires in the College of Arts and Sciences. This series of podcasts introduces them and their research interests. Doo Young Kim is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry. Young’s area of focus is carbon materials and energy related research, such as fuel cells, supercapacitors and batteries. In addition to this research, he also has an interest in neuroscience and electrochemistry.
Common University science requirement to receive recitation in hopes of helping students
Professor John Anthony was just having "fun," when he and UK graduate student discover entire new area of organic materials research.
Professor Burt Davis to be principal investigator of three-year proposal.
“I didn’t want to rush into the next step after undergrad so I took some time off,” Payne said. “Then, I sort of came to the point where I wanted a plan for the rest of my life.”
Knowing that she wanted to continue to study chemistry but also wanting to foster her other life passions, Payne picked UK and started her graduate work in 2000.
